It’s kind of hard not to get excited about the new Tesla S sedan.  Maybe it’s just a guy thing, but in this case, at least for me it’s a paradigm shift in thinking.  Tesla, an American manufacturer has built in my opinion one of the most compelling electric vehicles ever.  The four-door sedan, while not quite affordable for the majority of us, (prices range from $49,000 to $97,000 depending on driving range options) is visually and performance wise a stunning American automotive achievement.  Built in a formerly closed down U.S. Toyota manufacturing facility in Fremont, CA, the new Tesla S sedan will ship to customers for the first time this Friday, June 22.  Unfortunately, the first 1,200 cars off the assembly line will be the $97,000 model, but the $49,000 will start reaching customers who put down their $5,000 deposit by the end of this year.  Tesla has sold out their first 1,200-production run.  The various pricing levels are all range dependent.  The $97,000 model according to Tesla has a 300-mile driving range, though the EPA says it only drove 265 in their testing.  The lower priced model will take you 160 miles before you need to re-charge its batteries.  Automotive press pundits have praised the vehicle for its handling, comfort, and rocket like acceleration.  If you’re a fan of electric vehicles, then this is the one American car that will get your motor running.  Tesla has posted a video of the first car S model being produced.  We’ve posted here for your viewing pleasure.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=lDKt7gCnd_M
