Summertime and the living is easy. At least we all like to think that when summer rolls in. Depending on where you live in these United States the summer has been cooler than normal. Except for Texas, which is experiencing a terrible drought this summer. The part of the country I tend to hang out in the summer has been cooler. Almost fall like. Lots of rain and cooler temps. Even the evenings have been much cooler than normal. El Nina is the current blame for this type of climate. The benefits to cooler days and nights are that we are running the a/c a lot less than usual. The Philadelphia Inquirer has stated that this is the first summer in a long time that there have been no heat related deaths in the Philly area. Hot nights raise the prospect of heat related deaths amongst the elderly, more so than hot daytime temperatures. The reality is that man has only been keeping track of temperature fluctuations for only 130 years. The ebbs and flows of changes in climate cannot be measured in such a short period of time. We really have no clue as to what is a real weather cycle for the earth. Obviously the global warming issues are hard to assess in comparison to what the earth has been doing all of these past millions of years. We could even be entering a new ice age and have no clue about it. But, it is the summer time, and I would like to see some heat. Real summertime 90′s. Otherwise, I won’t get sick of the heat, and not look forward to those cold temps that fall and winter bring.

My kind of summer.
