DROUGHT CAUSING FAIL OF TEXAS CROPS

Failing crops dominate the South Texas landscape which is usually covered with plush green fields of corn, sorgum and hay fields. This corn field near Victoria, Texas will soon be shreded and plowed under or bailed for hay. President Clinton declared all 234 counties in the state of Texas a federal diaster area Thursday July 23, 1998 due to the drought affecting the entire southern portion of the United States.
