One by one, we can change the world.  We interact every day with our environment, sometimes proactively, and sometimes as an observer.  Whichever way, we are always part of it, as it is part of us.  I’ve been kicking around some ideas about how we can help each other influence positive developments in the environments we inhabit.  Besides volunteering, working in a green business, or just been plain conscientious about being good stewards to our environment, I thought we could get a little more interactive.  I am a big fan of photography, and am an avid participant in it as well.  I think a photograph can change the world.  A single image can alter people’s perceptions and galvanize them into action.  Our human history is filled with images that can tell a single story of what a person is feeling or in capturing a historic moment.  In some way, everyone has taken a picture at some point in his or her lives.  Whether it be with an instamatic, disposable, cell phone, or digital SLR camera at some point you’ve taken a picture.  With that in mind I’d like to start a new section at the earthy report with your help.  If you are an avid amateur, seasoned professional, student, or one who takes a camera out at birthday parties, we would love to show your pictures off.  The catch here is that I would like to receive an environmental image with a short description attached to it.  The environmental image can be anything that is important to you.  It could be your back yard, your bedroom, the nearest landfill, or a breathtaking landscape image of some area you love.  You could be working on a project to protect a local eco system, or trying to get a polluter to change their ways.  It doesn’t matter.  All we are looking for is a chance to share, and encourage everyone to document his or her environment.  It’s a way to record the present and to protect the future.  Who knows, it could change our world one by one.

Win this camera bag! The particulars:  Any image that is sent in is your image.  It is your copyright.  We will list it as your copyrighted image on our site.  We would like to receive jpeg images that are no larger than 72K.  Try to keep your description to fewer than 100 words.  It can be one image or a series of images that tell a story.  We’ll do our best to rotate images and to give everyone their time in the sun.  Please send any queries and your submissions to john@earthyreport.com.  The best image chosen from all of the submissions will receive this Tenba Shootout Sling Camera Bag.  Winner will be notified at the end of July.  The staff at the earthy report will decide on best image.
