Watch the skies this weekend for some out of this world fireworks.  The Perseid meteor shower is coming this weekend, and the phenomenon will peak with a spectacular show on Saturday night.  Every August, the Earth passes through the debris left behind by the Comet 109P, resulting in the shower. This year, the celestial lights will be brightest from August 11-13, but you can catch some meteors in the sky every night until August 22.  The meteor shower will be brightest every night after midnight. Perseid rates can get as high as 100 per hour, with many fireballs visible in the night sky. A waning crescent moon will interfere slightly with this year’s show, but viewing should definitely be worth a look!   Remember to allow 10-15 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark in order to see anything.  If you can’t get outside to see the show, NASA will have a live feed from their web site.  You can catch it at http://www.nasa.gov/connect/chat/perseids_2012.html
