Twenty Three Gigawatts is what one large wind turbine generates in power. Enough power to run half the needs of a small town of 12,000 people. Lately there have been news articles touching on the opposition to these towers around populated areas. Some local residents are not too keen on looking at a wind turbine in the distance, or being close enough to hear them. The US has highlighted areas in this country that would provide ideal locations to plant wind farms in. Plain states, coastal areas, and mountain passes throughout the US could sustain wind farms. This opposition can no longer be about the aesthetics of a wind turbine. The fact is we need them now. They would provide the green jobs to maintain them, build them, and install them. They would lower our dependency on foreign oil and coal. Clean sustainable energy. Personally, I just tried to get one installed on my home. The local village board feels it would impact the aesthetic nature of the community. It would exceed the height requirement of the village. This is not the type of thinking we need at the government level. We need to change this. I plan on pushing the village on this one.

I wish to point out an error in my post. The proper wattage is not in gigawatts but in megawatts. I apologized for this oversight.
